The original masters of connection

“To be able to come here and go to all those places that bring back memories, and share those moments with my own kids and my parents – it’s a very special place”. – Daegen

Looking to start a new tradition or continue one with a whole new generation? Shuswap is the perfect place for that.

Memory Central

Far from Ordinary
Closer than you think

Hiding in plain sight, at the cross road of Canada’s longest highways, half way between the Pacific coast and the foothills of the Rockies is found the Shuswap on the unceded territory of the Secwepemc. It’s no secret however to the many generations of families from across the country whose most precious memories live here: on the shores of our lakes and the banks of our rivers, at the height of our mountains and in the depth of our valleys.

Home to dozens of small communities, all with a flavour their own, dotted along some of the most glorious landscape Canada has to offer, the Shuswap features a unique climate, mild and perfect for four season adventure.

In the Shuswap, you can pick and choose the journey that suits you best. Having the time of your life means memories that last a lifetime.

Family Friendly Fun

What if it were less about taking the kids out to have fun, and more about all having fun together? Our family-friendly itineraries are keenly multi-generational. Sharing the joy of a new skill like riding bikes on the Salmon Arm Wharf (the longest, inland, curved wooden one we know of), or fishing the waters of the meandering Shuswap River. The inspiration of the gentle hike to the rushing waters of Margaret Falls. The shared frolic of feeding farm animals at Demille’s Farm Market in Salmon Arm. Never mind the sweet treat of local ice-cream at D. Dutchmen Dairy in Sicamous. Isn’t that’s what it’s really all about?

There’s plenty of fun for the young and young at heart. Soar through the trees tops, explore pioneer villages, feed our friendly farm animals, jump and slide, climb and bowl, maybe even throw an axe or two. Then, when it’s time to relax, catch a movie, a concert or a play.

Arts & Culture

Our talented artists and artisans, performers and musicians, curators and historians are inspired by our lake, our light and our landscape. Each share unique stories in creative ways proudly on display in galleries, studios, museums and shops or outdoors for all to enjoy at concerts in the parks or live theatre in stunning settings.

We more than marvel at the natural paradise in our own backyards. We celebrate it. Our care, commitment and investment in our natural spaces is a shared legacy. And we’re very proud to share them with you year-round.

On The Water
You’re never more than a few minutes walk, ride or drive from the water. So whether it’s a peaceful paddle, a rebellious rapid, wicked wakeboarding or fabulous fishing, these waters welcome you. Experience the rush of the river, the leisure of the lakes, be captivated by the creeks and seduced by our streams. The Shuswap Watershed connects us all.

Outdoor Adventure

The Shuswap is a true four-season destination with each offering an incredible array of experiences. With hundreds of kilometres of trails and lakeshore, there’s always more to explore. The Shuswap is an ecological must stop to an incredible variety and diverse population of migratory birds as well as the birth place and resting place of the worlds largest sockeye salmon run.

Taste Trails

To know a place, start with a meal. Why? Because our favourite travel stories so often begin with the perfect pairing, the hole-in-the-wall café, farmers market magic or fruit stand finds. And nothing evokes happy memories as a memorable meal.
