Statement from Shuswap Tourism and Shuswap Economic Development regarding the Closure of Waterway Houseboat Vacations

June 13, 2019

Shuswap Tourism and Shuswap Economic Development are very disappointed to hear of the recent closure of Waterway Houseboats, a company that has operated in the Shuswap region for 50 years.

Waterway Houseboats, along with Twin Anchors Houseboat Vacations, and Bluewater Houseboat Vacations are responsible for establishing Sicamous as the Houseboat Capital of Canada, as well as offering a unique way to showcase the incredible scenery and recreational amenities found on and around Shuswap and Mara Lakes.

We, along with the rest of the region’s tourism operators, continue to look forward to welcoming visitors this summer to experience houseboating, as well as the vast array of other recreational opportunities found in the Shuswap. For more information, please visit our Shuswap Tourism website: www.shuswaptourism.ca

Waterway customers within Canada who are looking for information regarding reimbursement are encouraged to contact Consumer Protection BC (www.consumerprotectionbc.ca).  We suggest customers outside of Canada contact the agent used to book their trip to determine whether they have insurance coverage. If a credit card was used in the purchase, it is also recommended customers contact their credit card company to see if they are eligible for reimbursement.
