Wednesday On the Wharf! "WOW"
2018 Marks the 25th Anniversary for "Wednesday's on the Wharf!"
Shuswap District Arts Council is pleased to announce that the 25th year of Wednesday On the Wharf summer concert series will launch on Wednesday, June 13 with the Jackson Jazz and Concert Bands. This special night is the finale concert of beloved music teacher Brian Pratt-Johnson, who is retiring at the end of the 2017/18 school year. Be sure to join his students, past and present, in a fun and momentous tribute to PJ.
WOW concerts begin at 6:45pm at Marine Park. BYOBlanket or lawn chair, bring a picnic and enjoy live music with the whole family. Admission donations are collected onsite at the half time. Watch for WOW25 collector pins, available with a $5 donation.
WOW is delighted to be celebrating the 25th year with Askew’s Foods. Askew’s has been the longest continual sponsor of WOW, and to celebrate, the Arts Council will be giving away a $50 Askew’s gift card every week. Use the gift card to create a mouth-watering picnic that you can enjoy at your next WOW concert. To enter the random draw, post a public photo to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter on the day of the concert with the hashtag #WOW25Picnic. One entry per person; full rules available on the Facebook page Wednesday on the Wharf.
WOW happens because of the generous support of businesses and organizations, who commit to helping us build a fabulous program each year. Season sponsors include SASCU, Prestige Harbourfront Resort, Salmar Community Association, EZ Rock, City of Salmon Arm and, new this year, Armstrong Regional Co-operative. 2018 performance sponsors are Drew Lee-Hai & Associates, Shuswap Tourism, Sea Dog Rentals, Hungry Panda Curbside Noodles, Johnston Meier Insurance, Toliver Design, Stella Jones Canada, Okanagan College, Sterling Land Wealth Advisory Group, Salmon Arm Folk Music Society, Salmon Arm Financial, Chad Eliason Mortgage Broker and Tim Horton’s.
Shuswap District Arts Council is grateful for the support of the Province of British Columbia through BC Arts Council and Direct Access. Live music is good for the soul, bring the family and take part in a wonderful outdoor community cultural event.
