Opening Night at Shuswap Theatre
By Norm Foster
Directed by Paul Kirkwood-Hackett
Feb 23 – Mar 10
It is the opening night of Richard Hyde-Finch’s latest play, but everything seems to be falling apart. The script is awful, there is fighting amongst the cast, some of the actors haven’t shown up yet, and Richard’s girlfriend wants to talk about why they aren’t married. Adding to the mayhem, Ruth Tisdale has won a pair of tickets to the new play. As it is their 25th wedding anniversary, Ruth’s husband, Jack reluctantly accompanies her to the play even though he would much rather be at home watching the seventh game in the World Series. But hey – what you do for love, right? All of this adds up to hilarity and chaos as everyone tries to get what they want. Norm Foster is one of Canada’s best comedy writers. His ability to capture our human follies and foibles make him an audience favorite.
