The Shuswap Centre: Knucwetwecw —Helping One Another
The Switzmalph Cultural Society welcomesall visitors to the Shuswap area and especially to those that would like to have a traditional Secwempc First Nations experience! Visitors are invited to experience the Secwepemc culture, whose ancestors lived in the interior of BC for at least 10,000 years. Visitors can experience a traditional Secwepemc native village built in the traditional style of the Shuswap People’s ancient settlements, participate in a Pow Wow, attend a workshop to learn how to make a traditional birch bark basket or native drum, or book a guided interpretive tour through the trail system in the Salmon River delta where they will learn about ecological values including traditional plants, medicines and traditional sustainable resource management practices. Our guides and instructors will provide visitors with an intimate knowledge and incomparable insight into local First Nations customs, history and environmental stewardship.
