True North at the Salmon Arm Arts Centre
True North Juried Exhibition at the Salmon Arm Arts Centre
Salmon Arm Art Gallery is pleased to present the finale exhibition of the Canada 150 year, True North, a juried show on the theme of winter. Canadians are proud of their embrace of winter - from the joys of tobogganing and skiing, to the stories of snowplows burying their cars. How we approach winter can be likened to how we approach life itself; with determination, resilience, and a sense of humour.
This exhibition allows visual artists to tell their winter stories through colour and form in a multitude of media. It opens on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 7pm with live music and refreshments. Generously sponsored by Hudson Dental and Team Linda Rohlfs, the show continues until December 16, 2017. Coffee Break and Artist Talk is on Thursday, December 14 at 2pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm. Admission is by donation.
The Gallery once again offers the Elves’ Workshop on Saturday, December 9 from 11am to 3pm, featuring four creation stations with the elves helping families make Christmas-themed art projects. On Tuesday, December 12 it is the last Trader Tuesday of the year, for people of all ages to make and trade Artist Trading Cards from 3pm to 4pm. On the final afternoon of the exhibition, December 16, we invite visitors to join us in a cup of hot chocolate to toast the end of the Canada 150 year, compliments of the Arts Council.
