The Son's of the Hayride at R.J. Haney Heritage Village
The Sons of the Louisiana Hayride are returning to R.J. Haney Heritage Village on Thursday August 24 with songs straight from the Louisiana Hayride Show. This show will take you on a magical journey, a delight from start to finish, overflowing with great stories and great songs!
Instrumental in launching the careers of some of the greatest names in music history, the Louisiana Hayride was a live radio show that ran from 1948 to 1960. During its heyday “The Hayride” was broadcast nationwide and, for a time, was even heard overseas on Armed Forces Radio.
Cast of The Sons of the Louisiana Hayride are Gil Risling, William Brookfield and Mike Melnichuk. They will entertain you with their wonderful 3 part harmonies and superb rendition of songs such as Tumbling Tumbleweeds and Cattle Call by Eddy Arnold. William will rock the keyboard with his stellar performance of Jerry Lee Lewis’ Whole Lotta Shakin and delight you with his uncanny resemblance to Johnny Cash when he sings I Walk the Line. Mike’s smooth vocals will bring you back in time when he sings Crazy Arms and the always popular Chatanooga Shoe Shine Boy and Gil will add a couple of real crowd pleasers with El Paso and Dang Me. Also, special appearance by Patrick Ryley as Hank Williams! So much talent on one stage…you don’t want to miss this!!!
This music extravaganza, performed with a live band, re-creates the ambiance of the early days of country music and features songs made famous by some of the greatest country music stars of the 50’s and 60's. Familiar characters such as Hank Williams, Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison will entertain and delight you from start to finish. Ticket holders will also enjoy songs from Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, Red Foley and Merle Haggard.
Written and narrated by Lori Risling, The Sons of the Louisiana Hayride reproduces the ambiance of those early days magnificently. Accompanying the fantastic music, audience members will be privy to lots of historical bits of trivia as well, such as why Roy Orbison wore dark glasses and find out what happened when jerry lee Lewis auditioned for the Louisiana hayride. The Sons of the Louisiana Hayride will take you back in time as you listen to those familiar tunes and hear the great folklore in this wonderful production.
This incredible ensemble recreates one of the most influential shows in music history, transporting you back to that magical time when these giant legends were discovered.
