SAGA Public Art Gallery in Salmon Arm, BC is pleased to present "Historiscapes," July 7 to 28, 2012.
"Historiscapes" combines the works of three local artists: Lisa Figueroa, Linda Franklin and Tracey Kutschker. With their individual styles, they have explored the beauty of the landscapes that surround us in the Shuswap. As Lazuline, they have collaborated to bring historical insight to local landmarks. The viewer is rewarded not only by each artist's interpretation of the environment but also by a feeling of connection to the past.
Trees, water, flowers and sky float across the canvases. Brush strokes are filled with an emotional response to nature's display.
Through the use of several triptychs, each artist's unique style is represented on one third of a panorama. As your eye travels across the three panels, you are aware of changes in brush strokes, lines and colours. You are also conscious of the artists' passion for this land that we share and the memories that it evokes.
"Historiscapes" opens Friday, July 6 at 7pm with live music and refreshments. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 4pm. Coffee Break/Artist Talk is on Thursday, July 19 at 2pm. The exhibition is sponsored by Gail Dyer. Family Saturdays continues each Saturday 11am to 4pm, free and drop-in artmaking projects for families with children of all ages.
