'Legend!' A Summer Theatre production
Two men are hunched over a computer, recording legends of the Secwepemc (Su-kwep-muk) people, the Bible, adding their own exciting spin. They are creating LEGEND!, Shuswap Theatre’s new summer production. Legend! tells the story of two young people who have no ideology or wisdom to go by, and are led by their totems to learn, to experience and to find a life path of their own.
This multimedia production is taking place through the efforts, sweat and laughter of Kenthen Thomas and James Bowlby. Kenthen is known for telling and dancing the stories of the Secwepemc people through the character of Coyote. He is currently studying Education at Thompson Rivers University. James is well known as a director and actor in many Shuswap Theatre productions. This show is being written and directed by James Bowlby and Kenthen Thomas.
Legend! will open July 19 and will run each Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm with a matinee each Sunday at 1:30 pm. There will be no performances on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the Roots and Blues Festival. The show tackles genuine concerns through comedy and with exciting characters. It is presented by Shuswap Theatre in co-operation with the Switzmalph Cultural Society.
