Grand Opening of the Montebello Museum & Canada 150
GRAND OPENING OF THE MONTEBELLO MUSEUM - CANADA 150 CELEBRATION. This year's Pioneer Day will focus on celebrating the Canada 150 & the opening of the new Montebello Museum. You are invited to join R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum on Sunday July 9th for a community party to celebrate and commemorate. The day will be full of activities and events themed around Salmon Arm's history and it settlers. Highlights will be the ribbon cutting for the new Museum, burying of the community time capsule, a 150 cakes decorating contest, interactive exhibits and demonstrations with with historic characters, visitors are encouraged to come dressed in costume from the era and enter the costume contest for prizes. You can participate in the old fashion races and games like toss eggs and tug a war, carnival midway games, Jack Steads sharp shoot & gun collection, facepainting, dunk tank,wagon rides, visit the petting zoo or take in a showing of the youth file "150 Voices" sponsored by the Salmon Arm Arts Center and so much more.
Enjoy local entertainment from Roundhouse Jazz Band, the Community Band, the Shuswap Barbershop Project and Peter Clark. Felts Photo Booth will be here to help you remeber your day with us!. Partnered for this event are the Shuswap Pioneer's Collectors Club, Voice of the Shuswap, the Shuswap Quilters' the Spinners & Weavers and more.
